The process of cross-linking can improve properties and performance of product significantly. Flexible packaging materials usually adopt the form of irradiated to achieve cross linking. Irradiated cross linking uses electron beams that produce high energy B rays. During the irradiation process, different bonds within the film cross link together.

There are variety of benefits of cross-linked POF shrink film:

① higher puncture resistance.

The cross linked POF offer higher puncture resistance, which enables users to use thinner film while obtaining the same strength. Thinner shrink film also offers better clarity, faster sealing, and faster shrinking.

② stronger seal strength

The weakest point in shrink film packaging is the seal seams. Stronger seals reduce risks of damage and ensures customers to purchase a product that has not been tampered with.

③ Better shrinkage

The shrinkage rate of standard POF is around 50% at 130 centigrade while cross-linked POF can be around 75% at the same temperature. It is especially suit for products with sharp edge and corners.
